Zack Snyder will direct the Justice League movie

Days ago, we reported that the yet-untitled Zack Snyder Superman/Batman movie has added the character known as Cyborg as another one of the superheroes making an appearance in the movie (the other is Wonder Woman). Many have also noted that this upcoming movie is starting to look like a Justice League movie. Well, we knew that it would eventually come, but it's actually too soon for that. Now, it has been announced that there is indeed going to be a Justice League movie, and Zack Snyder will be the director. Justice League will shoot back-to-back with Superman/Batman, according to Borys Kit, reporter for the Wal Street Journal. Superman/Batman is set for a May 6, 2016 release, while the Justice League movie is set for 2017.

The Superhero Character named Cyborg to join the Untitled Superman/Batman Movie

Oh dont look now, coz theyre also adding the superhero CYBORG as one of the characters for the upcoming yet-untitled Superman/Batman movie. The sequel for MAN OF STEEL looks like it does not want to focus merely on Superman (played by Henry Cavill), but seems to be aimed at introducing a whole lot of characters. Of course, we already have Batman to be played by Ben Affleck, Wonder Woman who will be played by Gal Gadot. And now we're having Cyborg, and he will be played by Ray Fisher. Just like me, almost all of you may not know who Ray Fisher is. It's because he's not really an actor; Ray Fisher is an American football player.

In the comics, CYBORG is Victor Stone, while visiting his parents (who are scientists), a freak laboratory incident occurs and a monster severely mutilates him. In order to save his life, his father outfits him with experimental prosthetics of his own design.

Will there be a FROZEN 2?

There's no denying the pop phenomenon the Walt Disney animated movie FROZEN has created. It’s currently the top selling Blu-ray and soundtrack on Amazon. It's also recently been re-released in some theaters. Plus, there's that popular song that makes the movie itself a pop sensation. If we consider the commercial behavior of Hollywood nowadays of "striking the iron while it's hot" ...it's a sure thing that making a sequel is obviously on Disney's calendar. But that doesn’t mean that it's happening tomorrow.  Disney has no reason to rush when the original is still riding high. In an interview with Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn, he said that one of the other reasons why is that Disney is, instead, primarily focusing on the Frozen musical.  Disney loves bringing their animated features to the stage, and a Frozen stage musical is a license to print money. The Hobbit 3 will now be titled "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies"

Just the other day, we reported that The Hobbit: There and Back Again might be retitled “The Hobbit: Into the Fire“, a subtitle taken from one of the chapters in the book.  The subtitle “There and Back Again” was from when there were only two Hobbit movies, and it provided a conveniently familiar vibe to when Bilbo (Ian Holm) hands over “There and Back Again: A Hobbit’s Tale” over to Frodo (Elijah Wood) in The Fellowship of the Ring.  However, such title may not be as appealing to audiences (too tame).  The third and final Hobbit movie will now be titled, “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies“, which is a pretty self-explanatory title.  There will be five armies and a big battle. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is scheduled for release this December 17th [hit the jump to continue]

THE HOBBIT: INTO THE FIRE may be the new title for the third Hobbit movie

The third Hobbit movie may be getting a title change.  When the J.R.R. Tolkein adaptation was initially planned (and shot) as two films, the title of the final installment was The Hobbit: There and Back Again.  and then Peter Jackson decided to expand the adaptation to three films, he dubbed the second film "The Desolation of Smaug" but maintained the "There and Back Again" subtitle for the third feature.  Well now it appears that New Line Cinema has registered the title The Hobbit: Into the Fire, signaling a possible title change for The Hobbit 3.  [hit the jump to continue]

Paul Walker's Brothers to help in production for Fast and Furious 7

As many of you know, the death of actor Paul Walker has greatly affected the production of Fast & Furious 7. It is both Paul Walker and Vin Diesel's characters that both share the spotlight as the ones that embody this movie series. The loss of Paul Walker meant that there would be major changes to be made. There were various theories as to how the production would handle Walker's loss; will they kill off the character? Will they use computer graphics to edit his remaining scenes? The filming that halted last November has recently resumed. The solution lies on Paul Walker's siblings, Caleb and Cody Walker, who will both step in for the role (on the remaining unshot scenes). Fast & Furious 7 is scheduled for an April 2015 release. [hit the jump to continue]

Snyder Reveals Reasons Behind the Batman vs Superman Idea

Many of us know that in the geek world, everybody's still debating whether it was a good idea to make the second Superman movie (to come out of the "Man of Steel" reboot) a crossover Batman/Superman movie. In interview with Forbes magazine has revealed why they went with this idea:

"After Man of Steel finished and we started talking about what would be in the next movie, I started subtly mentioning that it would be cool if he faced Batman. In the first meeting, it was like, “Maybe Batman?” Maybe at the end of the second movie, some Kryptonite gets delivered to Bruce Wayne’s house or something. Like in a cryptic way, that’s the first time we see him. But then, once you say it out loud, right? You’re in a story meeting talking about, like, who should [Superman] fight if he fought this giant alien threat Zod who was basically his equal physically, from his planet, fighting on our turf…  You know, who to fight next? The problem is, once you say it out loud, then it’s kind of hard to go back, right? Once you say, “What about Batman?” then you realize, “Okay, that’s a cool idea. What else?” I mean, what do you say after that?"

"Sinister 2" Names Director

SINISTER was one of the best horror movies of 2012, and it very much makes sense that a sequel will be made, and a director has now been chosen for Sinister 2.  Citadel director Ciaran Foy will be taking the helm, as announced (via his Twitter) by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) who co-wrote and directed the first film, and will remain onboard as a producer of the sequel alongside Jason Blum, who also produced the first film through his lucrative low-budget-high-profit model via Blumhouse Productions (the studio behind Paranormal Activity, The Purge, etc.). Derrickson will return to co-write the sequel with Sinister co-writer C. Robert Cargill. Foy made his feature directorial debut with the 2012 Irish horror film Citadel, so Sinister 2 marks his most high profile feature to date.

The first "Sinister" revolves around a true crime writer (Ethan Hawke) who moves his family into the home where a family was previously murdered, only to stumble across Super 8 footage depicting the murders of said family and numerous others. [hit the jump to continue]

Transcendence writer to pen the Battlestar Galactica movie

Yes, there's gonna be Battlestar Galactica movie. But it will focus more on having its adaptation based on the original 1978 TV series. Over two years ago, Bryan Singer was circling a film adaptation of the 1970s TV series Battlestar Galactica with John Orloff (Anonymous) set to write the script. For those unfamiliar with Battlestar Galactica, it centers on a war between humanity and a race of machines called “Cylons”.  Since 2011, word on the film has gone quiet, Singer has moved on, and it looked like Ronald D. Moore and David Eick‘s excellent Sci-Fi TV series would be the only adaptation.  However, Variety is reporting that you can’t keep a good cylon down, and that Universal has brought on Jack Paglen (Transcendence) to write the screenplay.  Original series creator Glen Larson is still on board to produce. Jeff Wadlow to rewrite Masters of the Universe screenplay... and direct?

Masters of the Universe movie has long been overdue for a new film adaptation. The 1987 adaptation was such a bad movie that from then on, it was difficult for Hollywood to imagine what a good Masters of the Universe should be like. But Sony has been developing a reboot of the Mattel adaptation for a few years now. G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu was previously attached to direct the project, but dropped out. Pirates of the Caribbean co-writer Terry Rossio came aboard to rewrite the screenplay, but apparently the project still has a significant amount of development left to go. Now, Kick-Ass 2 writer/director Jeff Wadlow has signed on to do another rewrite of the script.[hit the jump to continue]

Will We Ever See a "Goonies" Sequel?

The Goonies, is not merely iconic in the 80's, but stands as one of the most prominent kid's adventure movie. For years ever since its release in 1985, there had been several confirmations and denials that have both surrounded the possibility of a sequel. A few years ago, The Goonies director Richard Donner said a sequel was unlikely to come together, but held out hope for a Broadway musical.  Fun as a Goonies musical may have been, that didn’t pan out.  However, Donner has changed his tune on a sequel.  Donner, the director behind Superman and Superman II, was asked if would ever make another comic book movie.  His surprising response: “If you call Goonies a comic book.  We’re doing a sequel.” He added that “hopefully all” of the stars will return.

I doubt it’s a done deal yet, but if you belong to the Goonies generation, this is promising news from a key player. [hit the jump to continue to what Donner said around the 25th anniversary Goonies DVD/Blu-ray release about the chances of a sequel, remake, or musical]

Angara's Bill Promoting Film Tourism

Inquirer has reported today (April 9, 2014) that a bill that seeks to promote the country’s film tourism by providing tax incentives to production companies, both foreign and local, has been filed at the Senate. Senate Bill No. 2160 also known as the “Fostering Investment through Local and International Movies (FILM) Act” filed by Senator Juan Edgardo Angara “aims to attract filmmakers by providing incentives to film production companies primarily through tax credits ranging from 20 to 40 percent under a point-based incentive system.”

“Film tourism is a growing phenomenon wherein a destination is visited by tourists because it was featured in a movie, television or video. An interest in the nation and its positive image can eventually lead to an actual visit to the country,” Angara, vice chair of the Senate committee on tourism, said in a statement on Wednesday. “Thus, there is a need to promote the Philippines as a destination for filmmakers,” he said.

Chiwetel Ejiofor Being Eyed as the Next James Bond Villain

Casting is well underway on the 24th James Bond adventure, Daniel Craig's fourth in the lead role. Chiwetel Ejiofor is being considered for the villain in the new 007 movie. Ejiofor, who won a BAFTA and snared an Oscar nomination for his terrific turn in Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave, is considered the "frontrunner" for the role. No official offer has yet been forthcoming, mind. The James Bond 24 team is also on the lookout for two female leads for the new film. One of whom is described as a "Scandinavian with a trouble past who will serve as a brief love interest for Bond". The other female lead seems to be the "new Bond girl".

Sam Mendes is returning to direct the film, following the staggering success of Skyfall, and the movie is set for release in October 2015. Shooting starts later this year.
