Zoolander will finally be back!

The long wait is over; the sequel to Zoolander looks like its finally going to be a reality. Writer-director Justin Theroux has been actively developing as a sequel and the development process has been so long, considering that (the first) Zoolander was released way back in 2001. But this sequel is expecting a pretty promising cast. Penelope Cruz had already signed on to star and Will Ferrell confirmed that the cast had plans to get together for a read-through of the script Theroux co-wrote with Ben Stiller. Christine Taylor has also signed in to be back for the sequel. Taylor played journalist Matilda Jeffries in the first movie. At the end of the film, she’s living happily ever after with Derek and their son, Derek Jr., who absolutely nails his “first look.”

The Blob is up for a new remake

One of those lesser-known-movies but remembered-by-a-cult-audience and/or diehard horror fans is the 1988 campy flick "The Blob" which is itself a remake of a 1958 film of the same title. Now, The Blob is about to be remade for a new generation, and director Simon West (Expendables 2, The Mechanic) is at the helm of this project. In an interview, West talks about his plans for the remake:
“With modern CGI we can now fully realize the potential of The Blob. The world I create will be totally believable, immersive and emotionally satisfying. It’s a thrill to introduce an enduring icon to a wider audience and a whole new era of fans.”

Shooting is set to begin this summer and a target release date is yet to be set.

When Common Sense Gets TAK3N Away [A Taken 3 Review]

Taken 3 is the third and final installment in the Taken trilogy which stars Liam Neeson as Bryan Mills, an ex-government operative who has been fighting kidnappers who targeted his daughter in the previous two films. Inasmuch as I think the trailer pretty much gives out a spoiler to the movie, let's just say that Mills (Neeson) is being framed for a crime he didn’t commit, and now everybody seems to want to kill him. The story did divert from the first one, but it's still quite familiar coz this time it looks like it's ripping off "The Fugitive". [CLICK HERE to read the Full Review]

Tikoy Aguiluz's Controversial Film "Tragic Theater"

In February 1999, a group of spirit communicators attempted to exorcise the then-abandoned Manila Film Center of ghosts. These supernatural beings were believed to be those of the victims from a fatal accident during its hasty construction. Unknown to them, something had long ago taken sanctuary inside the building feeding on the anger and misery of the victims' souls. They learned this secret too late and walked into a horrifying encounter. "Tragic Theater" is based on a book of the same title by G. M. Coronel who also wrote "Tomb Keeper". "Tragic Theater" is directed by Tikoy Aguiluz, and stars Andi Eigenmann, Christopher de Leon, and John Estrada. It is set to be shown this week, specifically opening on January 8, 2015.
