Attack on Titan gets August 12 Release Date; AOT 2 Announced

Fans of the highly popular Japanese anime series "Attack On Titan" will be immensely delighted to find out that its live-action adaptation will have its theatrical release here in the Philippines August 12, 2015. [hit the jump to continue]

Sources have confirmed that Pioneer Films, the company that owns the distribution rights of AoT are setting up for the Philippine release of the much-anticipated movie adaptation. And unlike in the case of other Japanese movies such as the Rurouni Kenshin movies which were exclusive to SM Cinema, the release of the live-action "Attack on Titan" is targeted for a wider distribution, into other major theaters around the country as well.

"Attack on Titan" is pretty much regarded as one of the best anime and manga series to come out of Japan, and it has a very massive fanbase.

"Attack on Titan" or as it is properly titled: "Shingeki no Kyojin" is based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, and an anime television series adaptation produced by Wit Studio. The story follows an era when the man-eating giants called Titans first appeared, which sent humans retreating behind massive walls. After a hundred years of safety, a colossal-sized Titan smashes through the defenses, unleashing a flood of giants and carnage in the streets. Eren Jaeger watches helplessly as one of the creatures devours his mother.

He then vows to kill every Titan walking the earth. Eren and his surviving friends enlist to fight against the insatiable monsters. The future looks bleak, but there’s more to Eren than meets the eye: he may be humanity s last hope against extinction.

The film is set for release in Japan August 1, 2015. Here on the Philippines: August 12, 2015. A second film which is entitled "Attack on Titan: End of the World" will follow on September 19, 2015. There is still no word when the second film will have its Philippine release date.
